MCCivs is a mature community. Inevitably, this entails some degree of swearing, vulgar language and mature topics. However, this is not an excuse for racism, homophobia, sexism and the like. Any bigotry is not accepted within our community, even if as a joke. We appreciate some may have an arguably ill taste of humour, however, we ask that you steer it clear from public chats. Thank you.
Upon registration to “www.mccivs.com” you agree to abide by the following the rules. Staff have full right to use their own judgement and discretion when deciding on which warning/punishment is best suited to any given user.
We indefinitely reserve the right to change or modify these rules at any given time with or without reason. We also indefinitely reserve the right to remove you from our website and server if we feel that you are detrimental to our community. Our catch-all clause allows us to cover any situation and inevitability, however, only administrative staff are to use our catch-all clause as reason for punishment.
I. Respect and be considerate of your fellow players on the server. You are to be respectful and considerate of all other players on the server, regardless of their differences in culture, race, nationality or religion. Any abuse of another member of our community is forbidden.
II. Do not use any modified clients on the server, no matter the circumstances. You are not allowed to use any modified clients on the server. This includes, but is not limited to, "hacked" clients, game-brekaing modifications (staff discretion) or xray resourcepacks.
III. If an exploit or glitch is found anywhere on MCCivs, no matter how small, you must report it. You are not allowed to use any exploits or glitches that may be present on MCCivs. Any glitches must be reported to staff immediately. Rewards may be distributed, at staff discretion, if you report exploits or glitches.
IV. All builds on the server and all roleplay posts on the website must follow the time period and setting of the server. You are not allowed to build in a manner that does not abide to our time period. Breaking of the fourth wall is not allowed, and any builds or roleplay posts must be akin to our time period. This fully implies a ban on the use of Nazi symbolism, pepe frogs and anything of the like. We do accept a joke, however, an abuse of our tolerance will be met with severe punishment.
V. Any attempt to harm the server in any way results in a permanent ban and removal from the server. You are not allowed to attempt to harm the server in any way. This is usually up to the discretion of administrative staff, and things such as ddos attacks, doxing of members of our community, or any other attacks will be met with permanent removal from the server.
VI. The destruction of another’s build is completely forbidden and shall be considered grief. You are not allowed to pursue acts which could inflict grief upon another player. This extends to removal of blocks, theft and the like without proper roleplay reasoning.
VII. Plagiarism is forbidden and to be avoided at all costs. You are not allowed to plagiarise. This means that you are allowed to paraphrase work from others, so long as it is not copyrighted. Any work that is directly copied must be fully and appropriately referenced.
VIII. Forgery of evidence in reports of staff or players alike shall be treated as an attempt to deceive staff members. You are not allowed to forge any evidence that is located within a player or staff report. We have means to check. Screenshots and videos must remain unaltered (unless edited for the sake of privacy), and text logs must be fully accurate. (Once again, we can compare to that of our own logs.)
IX. The act of scamming players, outside of roleplay, is forbidden and shall be considered an attempt to harm the community. You are not allowed to scam other players. If scamming occurs in roleplay, it stays in roleplay. If it occurs OOCly, then it is an issue.
X. Advertising of other servers, be it on the website or server shall be treated as an attempt to harm the community. You are not allowed to advertise other servers on our website or server. This extends to direct server IP addresses, website links, or their forms of communication (discord invites and TS3 IP addresses).
XI. Donation rewards are a gift, it is a donation, not a payment for any goods. You are not allowed to refund any payments. Any donations are just that, donations. You are not paying in exchange for goods. Upon donating for any item within our donation store, our Terms and Conditions are agreed to. We indefinitely reserve the right to remove your donation priviledges if they are abused.
XII. If issues occur on the server or forums, if you engage in it you will be punished accordingly. You are not allowed to engage, flame or provoke on the server or forums. If you engage in an argument, you will be punished accordingly. If someone is attacking you, do not respond, and wait for a staff member to help you.
XIII. You represent MCCivs when on other servers. You are not allowed to disgrace our name when playing on other servers. This means that you must not advertise our server on other servers or forums.
I. Arguments with Moderators You are not allowed to openly argue with a moderator about punishments. Contact the Moderator via a private message. These situations should be dealt with privately.
II. Forum Accounts You are not allowed to share your account. Forum accounts are intended for the use by one person. You are not allowed to create backup accounts for the purpose of posting in our debate forums, in the event of your main being banned.
III. Remain on Topic Threads should remain on the topic that they are discussing, they should not be discussing other topics. A new thread should be made for a new discussion. Please do understand we are lenient upon this rule however if the topics gets majorly derailed we will take action.
IV. Inappropriate content Threads containing pornography, illegal content will be removed and the user banned. Racial, sexual, or any other form of discrimination is currently not tolerated. We are lenient depending upon the mannerism of discussion.
V. Flame or Provoke Do not continually and aggressively insult or flame other members of the forum. Similarly, do not post with the intention of provoking a reaction from fellow members. This includes encouraging flame wars.
V. Topic Setting The opening post of a thread sets the topic and the tone of the discussion. It should contain a member's opinions or questions with sufficient elaboration to establish a foundation for respectful discussion and debate. Images, links, quotations, etc., should be used to support a member's opinion, not to replace it.
VI. Topic Duplication Threads should not be posted in the wrong forum, or be duplicates of other threads and/or topics (creating multiple threads with fundamentally the same topic is not allowed, unless otherwise stated by a staff member).
VII. Private Messaging Publicly post or otherwise share PMs with other users unless you have the expressed permission of the sender to do so. Private Messages are intended to be just that - private.
I. Spamming any chat is forbidden. You are not allowed to spam on MCCivs. Spamming is considered the excessive use of characters, repeated messages or full caps lock.
II. Although swearing is not forbidden, using it excessively or in response to someone within OOC channels is deemed inappropriate and you may be punished You are not allowed to swear in excess, or in bad taste. We are a mature community, and understand that swearing is a valid form of expression, however, we do not tolerate the act of swearing in rage, anger or at someone else.
III. Disrespect to other players is forbidden. You are not allowed to be disrespectful to other players or to staff. We understand that you may have a distaste for someone, however, you are not allowed to express such dislikes in a vulgar or uncivilised manner. We aim to be a relaxed and fun community, and we ask that you do not devalue that.
IV. Staff disrespect and devaluement. Any attempt to devalue or disrespect a member of staff, or something they say, is forbidden if not given in a constructive, friendly manner.
V. Bullying. Understand that there is a fine line between comedic jest, and bullying. The latter shall be punished severely, usually with a permanent removal from the server.
VI. Trolling, flame or provocation. Trolling in chat in order to receive a reaction from other players is prohibited.
VII. Be welcoming and kind. Please take the effort to welcome new players to the server and make them feel welcome. We are happy to receive newcomers at all times.
VIII. Erotic or sensitive roleplay. All forms of erotic or sensitive roleplay must be taken to private channels between the players involved. Consent must be given, and OOCly the two players must be older than 16 years of age.
IX. Only English in chat. Chat channels must remain solely in English. If you wish to speak in a different language, take it to /msg.
I. You are ordered to follow the roleplay-syntaxing guide to create a legible and enjoyable roleplaying experience. You must abide by our roleplay-syntaxing guide to creative a legible and enjoyable roleplaying experience for both yourself, and for fellow members. As a result of our custom chat plugin, if the roleplay-syntaxing guide is not used fully, it will be very poorly formatted.
II. Roleplay should be conducted to the best of your grammatical ability. You are expected to have some degree of grammatical ability. We understand that for some of our members, they may not have English as their first language, however, we do expect people to try and be as grammatically correct as possible.
III. The act of “Metagaming”, using OOC knowledge in an IC scenario, is strictly forbidden. You are not allowed to use any OOC knowledge for IC gain. You are also not allowed to share OOC knowledge for indirect IC gain. For example, sharing with someone a secret that you know OOCly so that that person helps you.
IV. The act of “Powergaming”, where a character takes their turn and dictates and ignores other characters actions, is strictly forbidden. You are not allowed to powergame, whereby you dictate the actions of other characters, or you make yourself overly powerful and unfair.
V. The act of “God moding”, where a character is given unrealistic and unfair powers over others, is strictly forbidden. You are not allowed to god mode, whereby you give yourself powers like that of a god. This could include teleportation, invinsability, etc.
VI. The act of your character being a “Mary-Sue”, a character perfect in every way, is strictly forbidden. You are not allowed to make your character that of a Mary-Sue, a character which has no flaws, and is perfect in almost every way imaginable.
VII. The act of “RDMing” or Random-Death-Matching is forbidden. You are not allowed to prandomly kill someone without any valid roleplay reasoning. Killing as a consequence of OOC reasonining can be punished and be coined as RDM.
VIII. Your character cannot hear through walls. If there is something that will realistically render you unable to hear someone, even if in local chat, you cannot hear them.
IX. ERP is to be conducted to a suitable manner. All forms of erotic or sensitive roleplay must be taken to private channels between the players involved. Consent must be given, and OOCly the two players must be older than 16 years of age.
X. If a failure to maintain roleplay at a suitable level occurs, staff reserve the right to void the roleplay instance. You are not allowed to void a roleplay instance for the sake of voiding it, or because it was undesirable for you or your party. Roleplay me only be voided with staff discretion, and if any of our roleplay or general rules are broken.
I. Combat may not take plce without valid roleplay reasoning. You may only engage in combat with valid roleplay reasoning, or else it will be ruled as an act of "RDM" and you will be punished accordingly.
II. You may only fight OOCly if all players offer their explicit consent. You and other parties are only allowed to engage in OOC-combat if all players clearly consent to it, and you have agreed terms beforehand.
III. To engage in combat, you need to follow correct RP protocal. You may only engage in combat if you use the correct roleplay protocal, which entails the emoting of your character drawing their sword, and then, in LOOC, counting it down from at least 5.
IV. Rule C-III. is not applicable in wars. During wars, only the war rules are applicable to combat.
V. The default combat is PVP, although dice-rolling and RPVP are also both supported. By default, or with a lack of consent for another option, the default combat type is PVP, however, with consent, parties may engage in combat using dice-rolling or RPVP.
VI. If killed in an assassination or in war, the player's character is permanently dead. If a player's character is killed during an assassination or in the event of war, then the character is permanently dead, unless all parties consent to capture.
VII. If killed whilst dueling, the player's character is either injured or dead. If a player's character is killed whilst dueling, it is up to discretion of how the duel unfolded to determine the outcome of your character.
VIII. If your weaponry is poisoned, you must inform a staff member OOCly beforehand. It is imperative to inform a member of staff beforehand if using poisoend weaponry so that we can determine effects, outcome, time until mortality, etc.
IX. Traps must be realistic and have an exit. Traps must be realistic in terms of design, blocks and decor, and must also have a potential exit.
X. People may only be freed from a trap when the defender is online to attempt to stop it. You may only attempt to free people from traps or capture when the defender is online to attempt to stop such actions.
I. Builds may only be constructed within claimed lands. You may only erect builds on claimed lands within your territory, however, there are some exceptions onto this rule on a case-by-case basis. Contact staff if you are unsure. II. Builds must be appropriate and realistic to the overall theme of the town or region you are constructing it in. You may only build structures that are appropriate to the overall theme or aesthetic of the region and all builds must try to uphold a high degree of realism.
III. Buildings in the wilderness may be rolled back. Due to our policy on building within claimed lands, all builds in wilderness territory could be subject to being rolled back or otherwise removed.
IV. The leader of a civilisation may request for a build to be removed, in which case, the player must comply. All leaders of any civlisations have supreme authority to request a build in their region be removed, in which case, the player must comply.
V. All builds should be as geographically correct as possible. Despite our map being scaled down, builds should still try to adhere to the realistic locations they would be in.
